Joint Pain at 18 (Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis)?

I will be 18 on the 22nd of this month and I have been experiencing joint pain in my hands and wrist. I don’t get it all the time but it comes every few weeks/months. Many have said its because I’m still growning but I’m not sure I believe that. I don’t play any sports so it couldn’t be because if that. Do I have Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis? I am very fit (5′4, 105lbs) and work out every day. So could it still be growing pains?

JRA is a serious illness and the sooner it is treated, the less your chances of being permanently disfigured. A doctor can tell you if you have this with one visit and one blood test. Go. It could also be a list of other, less severe things. Still worth knowing as soon as possible. You are worth the trouble-check it out now.

A blood test will tell you if you carry the RA factor. My son was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis about 3 years ago. I feel really bad for him because he went to college to be a Service Technician (mechanic) and he had to give it up already because of the arthritis.

Get the test and I really hope you don’t have it. Good luck.

Hello, before i start juvenile means before 16 so it is not juvenile arthritis. yes it may be arthritis, but for it to be rheumatoid there has to be swelling and this pain has to continue for more than 3 months. Id go and see a doctor. i have got Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis and if it was caught sooner it would have been so much better for me. good luck , i hope you dont have this disease!
