What happens to you if you have rheumatoid arthritis?

My doctor might do a blood test to see if I have it. I know the symptoms but I don’t know anything else about it.

It is an Autoimmune Inflammation of the joints… Autoimmune means that it is your body that attacks itself. The outcome is not very good… It usually turns out to be that you have deformities of your joints. Because the its is auto(self) immun/o(immune system) problem. It is not curable, but, it his somewhat controllable. They would put you on strong steroids to control it. Another thing you should know is that it is very painful when it starts to get worse, more towards the deforming part of having it.
    I’m very sorry.

One of the most difficult aspects of arthritis is diagnosing it, as even though there are a lot of blood tests that can sometimes show that the arthritis is present, there is no one set test that works for everyone. this is true of Rheumatoid Arthritis, as well as other types of arthritis.

So, keep in mind that even if your blood tests or X-rays are negative, this does not mean you don’t have rheumatoid arthritis.

Another thing to keep in mind is that Rheumatoid Arthritis usually attacks joint symmetrically, meaning that if one of your wrists shows symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, the other would as well. Since arthritis is so very difficult to diagnose, it is very important to pay attention to symptoms and talk to your doctor about them, as they can aid during diagnosis.

Diet and exercise are also very important, so when you meet with your doctor, ask them about what types of exercises you should preform and how often. Low impact exercises, such as walking and water aerobics are usually one of the best places to start.
