It's just plain bone degeneration. Rheumatoid arthritis IS an auto-immune disorder where your body's anitbodies attack the connective tissue in and around the joints. Enbrel, Remicade, or Humira are the latest medicines for Rheumatoid arthritis. Osteoarthritis will generally not respond to these "biologics" -- a fancy name for designer drugs that have mouse or human proteins attached within the actual drug molecule.
